Executive Isolation: 30 Days Later

June 15, 2018 by Colin Gautrey

Remarkable turnaround. Rex has decided to stay.

Inspired by our initial conversation (and reading the original article: Executive Isolation: Beyond the Impenetrable Wall), he has made some incredible progress:

  • Rex decided to adopt an open mind and reach out for the facts.
  • He had a frank discussion with one of the CEOs.
  • The result: an amazing revelation that he had got it totally wrong.
  • Recognised that he has been sabotaging his own position.
  • Formed an alliance with his boss who, to his surprise, has a similar challenge.
  • Rex now believes he can win over 6 out of 7 of the senior executive team.
  • He has got himself fired up like he used to be earlier in his career.

Just listening to him on our call the other night was fantastic. For three years he has been struggling. Tearing his hair out. Frustrated. Insulted. Angry.

Now, 30 days later, motivated, confident, positive and energised.

That isn’t to say he’s arrived but, we are off to a jolly good start.

During the call I was able to stop him disappearing back down the same dead end, and a few other common ones. What we need to do is ensure we stay on track and pick up the pace a little. Habits take a while to break, and a while to form, and this will be so much easier with the positive reinforcement he is getting from his executive colleagues.

Oh, and although Rex may not have noticed it, a few seeds were planted to escalate his ambition beyond his current role. So much more to play for here!

But, this cannot happen for everyone. With Rex, a number of factors are present that have made this possible. If you don’t have these, often the only route out of this dilemma is to leave and, to hope history doesn’t repeat itself.

Are You Struggling?

If you are working at or near executive level in a large organisation and are stuck, unsure what to do, you don’t have to remain that way.

One simple call and we will know if the factors Rex has on his side are present in your situation. In 30 minutes I will be able to tell you exactly what you need to be doing differently to break out of your current dilemma. Then it will be up to you.

How many more years will you wait?

Book the call!

Here’s what Rex said at the end of our initial call:

“You nailed it right out of the gate. This has been so powerful.”
