As you become more influential, you will naturally begin to adopt a number of key principles on which you will base your influencing work and, in many ways, will become the secret to how you influence.
Because we are all different, the principles of influence we gravitate towards will vary ― what works for one may not work for another and vice versa. Having said that, I believe the differences will lie in the significance each person attaches to each principle rather than adopting different ones.
Based on my original series, The Secrets of Influence, written in 2008, I have reviewed and re-written 21 principles which are highly important to all those I have met who have developed their influence to a high level. A key part of the revision is to provide ideas and suggestions about how to implement each principle and make it part of your core practice. I’ve also added a few more along the way!
My purpose, as always, is to stimulate your thinking and motivate your action, to become more influential. These principles appear in no particular order, because the importance each earns within your work is up to you.
